LifeSciences British Columbia (LSBC) supports and represents the biopharmaceutical, medical device, bioproducts and bioenergy, and greater life sciences community of British Columbia through leadership, advocacy and promotion of our world-class science and industry. Via active facilitation of partnering and investment into the life sciences sector, British Columbia is fast becoming a global life sciences leader.

LSBC members include: academic and research institutions; associations; government; and companies from the biopharmaceutical industry, agricultural biotechnology sector, bioinformatics, bioproducts, medical devices, international pharmaceutical multinationals, contract research and scientific services, communications, professional and legal services, human resources, systems and software; and consultants.

British Columbia is the seventh largest biotechnology centre in North America by number of companies, and one of the fastest growing in North America.

In addition, BC offers one of the best, most cost-effective R&D environments in North America with specific tax advantages for life sciences companies. British Columbia is home to numerous Centres of Excellence and world-class researchers working in a broad array of areas, from neuroscience at UBC's Brain Research Centre to the BC Cancer Agency, which is consistently ranked in the top five in the world, to name just a couple.
